Setup

Stand about one metre in front of the rim, square to the basket.

How it works

  1. 1Hold the ball in your shooting hand only, elbow under the ball.
  2. 2Shoot one-handed with a high arc and hold your follow-through.
  3. 3Make 5 in a row, then take one step back.
  4. 4Continue out to the free-throw line, adding the guide hand when you move past 3 metres.

Coaching points

  • โœ”Elbow, wrist and ball in one straight line toward the rim.
  • โœ”Finish with a relaxed 'hand in the cookie jar' follow-through.
  • โœ”Quality over quantity โ€” only count swishes or clean makes.
